This IFPA-accredited diploma trains you to become a fully qualified Clinical Aromatherapist, combining in-depth essential oil knowledge with hands-on massage therapy.
The course meets National Occupational Standards and the high professional requirements of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA)—one of the leading bodies in complementary medicine.
You’ll complete five modules:
Three aromatherapy theory modules (covering clinical application, safety, and therapeutic use)
One business and professional development module
One practical massage therapy module (in-person at our school venues)
It’s ideal for anyone aiming to work professionally—whether in clinics, wellness centres, or your own private practice—delivering safe, bespoke treatments that support clients’ health and wellbeing.
The diploma follows the IFPA syllabus and includes:
Students must complete all homework, case studies, and assessments. Modules are completed in sequence, and students must finish one before moving on to the next. All five modules must be completed before taking the final theory and practical exams.
Already qualified in massage? You may be eligible for our Clinical Aromatherapy – Product Formulating pathway instead (see our formulation course for details).
Upon completing the course—including all coursework, case studies, and theory and practical examinations—you will be eligible to join IFPA as a full member. This qualification allows you to practise as a Clinical Aromatherapist with massage, either in an employed setting or by launching your own business.

The full course can be completed in as little as 12 months, with a recommended study commitment of 6 hours per week. The maximum timeframe allowed is 3 years, though most students complete their studies within 18 months.
